Nurse Practitioner

As a Registered Nurse at UNC Health Care, you will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care. This role requires a strong foundation in nursing principles, with a focus on providing holistic care to patients with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities- Apply the nursing process to plan, provide, and document professional nursing care to patients in accordance with provider orders, hospital, and nursing standards.
- Individualize patient care plans using professional nursing judgment, taking into account patient baseline needs and response to care.
- Evaluate patient progress and update care plans accordingly, maintaining accountability for carrying out components of the plan of care.
- Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with providers, interdisciplinary teammates, patients, and their families.
- Follow systems that support the nursing process and deliver safe and effective patient care.
- Understand and comply with regulatory guidelines.
- Monitor the activities of other licensed or unlicensed teammates and delegate appropriately.
- Provide direction, training, and guidance in the proper use, care, and control of material resources.
- Assist teammates in the delivery of nursing care and provide direct patient care as indicated.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse Licensure in North Carolina required.
- Competent in BLS and/or other specialized life support certifications as required by department.
- Additional certifications may be required by assigned department.
- 2 years of current acute care experience strongly preferred.
- Tele monitoring/verification of tele strips experience or sign off within 90 days of hire.
- Experience with cardiac drips or sign off within 90 days of hire.
- BLS.
- Current ACLS or within 90 days of hire.
- Able to perform EKG or sign off within 90 days of hire.
- CPI or within 90 days of hire.
- NIH Stroke Certification within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practice, and procedures.
- Ability to apply the nursing process appropriately.
- Ability to assess the nursing needs of acute and chronically ill patients.
- Ability to perform independently within scope of practice, and to work collaboratively.
- Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Good organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Proficient with EMR/Epic, and able to learn new software rapidly.
- Ability to stand, walk, and meet the physical requirements of the job for duration of shift.
