Job Summary

The City of Anniston is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Inspector to join our team. As a Technical Inspector, you will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with building codes, ordinances, and regulations in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of construction projects to verify compliance with building codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Review and approve construction plans to ensure they meet code requirements.
  • Issue permits and licenses to contractors and property owners.
  • Enforce code compliance through education and enforcement.
  • Collaborate with other city departments to ensure effective code enforcement.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Valid Alabama driver's license.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret building codes, ordinances, and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in code enforcement or a related field.
  • Certification as an International Code Council (ICC) Property Maintenance & Housing Inspector.
  • Knowledge of building codes, ordinances, and regulations.
