Certified Nurse Midwife, Big Sandy Health Care

The Certified Nurse Midwife provides direct nurse-midwifery services and primary care to patients. This role involves administering prenatal, intrapartum, and gynecological services, as well as teaching and counseling individuals, families, and groups on health maintenance, disease prevention, and disability. The ideal candidate will possess a Master's degree in nursing with a clinical specialty in nursing practice or a Bachelor's degree in nursing from a school approved by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. Additionally, they must be licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in Kentucky or have a Temporary Authorization to practice under the Kentucky Board of Nursing protocol. Certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives, the successful candidate will have knowledge of nurse-midwifery theory, procedure, and standards, as well as the ability to develop and implement plans of care, provide skilled nurse-midwifery services, and interpret medical records, reports, and instructions.
Responsibilities:
- Administers direct nurse-midwifery services and primary care to patients.
- Identifies physical, social, and emotional health needs of women and families through systematic assessment and evaluation.
- Utilizes professional skills, health history, physical evaluations, and laboratory and diagnostic tools to provide care and treatment.
- Teaches and counsels individuals, families, and groups on health maintenance, disease prevention, and disability.
- Participates in staff development programs, including orientation, in-service, and continuing education.
- Maintains records and reports according to agency standards.
- Prescribes and dispenses non-scheduled legend drugs according to a written practice agreement.
- Makes appropriate referrals and provides continuity of care for clients receiving services from multiple agencies.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in nursing with clinical specialty in nursing practice or Bachelor's degree in nursing from a school approved by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
- Licensed to practice as a Certified Nurse-Midwife in Kentucky or Temporary Authorization to practice under the Kentucky Board of Nursing protocol.
- Certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives.
