**Job Summary:**

As a Diagnostic Sonographer at Big Sandy Health Care, you will play a vital role in assisting medical professionals in detecting anatomical abnormalities using high-frequency sound waves.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Perform a variety of specialized technical tasks in diagnostic ultrasound, utilizing high-frequency sound waves to assist medical professionals in detecting anatomical abnormalities.
  • Assist physicians with biopsy procedures by guiding biopsy instruments using sonographic techniques.
  • Operate various types of ultrasound equipment as directed and perform routine diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.

**Specific Responsibilities:**

  • Perform appropriate ultrasound procedures and record anatomic, pathologic, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures, including taking vital signs and measurements.
  • Explain the evaluation and testing process to patients.
  • Select transducers and adjust equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, depth of field, and other specifications.
  • Record, analyze, and process diagnostic data and other pertinent observations made during the procedure for presentation to the interpreting physician.
  • Obtain, review, and integrate pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
  • Provide patient education related to medical ultrasound and/or other noninvasive diagnostic vascular techniques, and promote principles of good health.
  • Calibrate, clean, and perform routine maintenance on equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  • Clean, sterilize instruments, supplies, and equipment.
  • Stock and replenish supplies as required.
  • Accurately and systematically record patient-related data in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Assist with the collection and tracking of electronic patient data.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

  • Associate's degree or higher in an allied health program or equivalent.
  • Consistent with American Institute for Ultrasound Medicine, one of the following:
    • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS (AB), (OB/GYN), or (PS), and/or RVT(VT); [Breast (BR) specialty earned prior to 2011 will be accepted; RMSKS credential is not accepted].
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS); [Breast (BS) specialty earned prior to 2011 will be accepted.
    • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) RVS.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Twelve months of full-time clinical ultrasound experience.
