Under the guidance of center management and the lead educator, the assistant educator plays a crucial role in coordinating and executing personalized educational strategies for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years. The assistant educator aids the lead educator in fostering a secure and enriching learning atmosphere for the children.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Implementation
- Deliver a high-quality educational setting that integrates research-based curriculum and teaching methods.
- Collaborate with the lead educator to ensure optimal care for infants and toddlers.
- Engage in all scheduled training sessions to support continuous professional growth.
- Provide an enriched curriculum emphasizing social-emotional growth, early literacy, and physical development.
- Curriculum Development
- Actively interact with children using appropriate behavioral management techniques as per CWCC's guidelines.
- Conduct regular meetings with the lead educator and assistant to discuss lesson plans and individual child objectives.
- Assist in designing and executing learning activities that cater to all developmental areas.
- Child Assessment
- Recognize developmental milestones or concerns of primary care children and communicate with the lead educator.
- Work alongside the lead educator and assistant to create suitable activities and instructional resources for infants and toddlers.
- Support the completion of both informal and formal assessments as directed by the lead educator.
- Family Engagement
- Build strong relationships with families through open communication and encouraging parental involvement.
- Explain the educational program to parents to enhance their understanding of their child's needs and the significance of early learning for ongoing development.
- Additional Duties
- Assume lead teaching responsibilities in the absence of the lead educator.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues to fulfill daily cleaning responsibilities.
- Carry out routine tasks such as meal preparation, diapering, toileting, hand washing, and constant supervision of children.
- Ensure that classroom materials, furniture, and supplies are well-maintained.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by center management.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
Preferred Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Over 2 years of teaching experience in a childcare setting
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift weights between 25-35 lbs
- Capability to walk, kneel, sit, and stand for extended periods
