Position Summary
The collision estimator is responsible for conducting damage assessments and utilizing computerized estimating systems to formulate repair strategies and cost estimates.
Overseeing the production team and managing inventory to ensure quality standards, cost control, and efficient cycle times.

Key Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role include:
- Verifying the quality of completed repairs prior to delivery
- Addressing customer concerns promptly in accordance with company guidelines
- Monitoring documentation flow to ensure all paperwork is complete, signed, and properly distributed
- Preparing final invoices for completed repair orders
- Participating in management meetings
- Maintaining a professional appearance
- Accurately identifying vehicle details including VIN, year, make, model, and options
- Assessing all primary and secondary damages to the vehicle
- Identifying parts that need to be repositioned, removed, or replaced
- Utilizing computerized estimating systems to create repair plans and cost assessments
- Selecting appropriate parts for the vehicle and customer needs
- Ensuring adherence to internal and insurance company estimating guidelines
- Completing and submitting repair costs and supplements to insurance providers
- Scheduling vehicle repairs to maintain a balanced workload
- Following up with potential customers via phone and email to arrange repairs
- Promoting additional services and repairs offered
- Achieving an average closing rate of 60% on estimates
- Adhering to all standard operating procedures
- Assisting in the development and refinement of standard operating procedures as necessary
- Complying with health and safety regulations
- Following scheduled work hours and attendance policies
- Upholding the business code of conduct and other policies
- Understanding and executing both oral and written instructions
- Attending daily production meetings
- Managing parts procurement and returns
- Updating internal systems daily with vehicle status and production projections
- Ensuring complete customer satisfaction and promoting positive online ratings
- Identifying all primary and secondary damages to the vehicle
- Utilizing computerized estimating systems to develop repair plans and cost assessments
- Scheduling repairs to ensure a balanced workload
- Ensuring profitability through effective parts and material management
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Upholding a professional appearance by wearing company apparel.
- Managing aged receivables and ensuring timely payments.

Required Knowledge and Skills
The following knowledge and skills are essential for this position:
- Understanding of vehicle construction methods and repair procedures
- Familiarity with vehicle construction materials and repair techniques
- Proficiency in closing sales
- Strong communication skills with customers, vendors, and insurers
- Experience with computerized estimating systems
- Basic computer skills including data entry and Microsoft Office applications

Training and Certification Requirements
The following training and experience are recommended for this position:
- Proficiency in CCC1 estimating software
- Valid driver's license
- Completion of required company training
- Ongoing training as assigned

Supervisory Duties
Collaborate with painters and body technicians to oversee production.

Work Environment
The working conditions for this role include:
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, fumes, and potential mechanical, chemical, or electrical hazards
- May require overtime and weekend work.

Physical Requirements
This position entails the following physical demands:
- Strong oral communication skills
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods
- Good body mechanics and manual dexterity
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds or more
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
