Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician

Mass General Brigham is seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) plays a critical role in the laboratory, performing waived and non-waived testing under the supervision of a licensed medical professional. The successful candidate will be responsible for following laboratory procedures, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to quality control policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and procedures using instruments and/or manual methods on blood, plasma, and other body fluids.
  • Prepare samples and reagents for testing according to laboratory policies.
  • Operate all instruments/analyzers per established procedures or instructions in applicable operator's manual.
  • Perform routine maintenance, function checks or calibrations on equipment according to policies and documents.
  • Recognize instrument malfunctions, document problems as may be required, performs troubleshooting and repair according to established guidelines.
  • Perform quality control for all reagents and instruments according to policies.
  • Document all out of range QC results and corresponding corrective action steps if applicable.
  • Responsible for the accuracy, interpretation, and reporting of test results according to laboratory policies.
  • Identify aberrant patient test results, recognizes factors that affect results, and takes appropriate action.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in laboratory science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college or university.
  • ASCP certification or equivalent (e.g., AMT).
  • 0-2 years of clinical laboratory experience.
