Job Summary:

The Director of Library and Learning Resources at Harrisburg Area Community College leads the college's library and learning commons operations, overseeing the allocation of resources and staff. This role is responsible for the recruitment and hiring of faculty librarians and reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Supervise and evaluate library and learning commons staff, including the Learning Commons Director, Director of Library Technical Services, Faculty Chair, and Coordinator for Learning Commons and Library Web Services.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans for the library and learning commons, working with faculty and staff to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Resource Allocation: Oversee the allocation of resources, including budgeting and staffing, to ensure the effective operation of the library and learning commons.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work with college departments and functions to facilitate library and learning commons services across the college.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Regularly assess and evaluate library and learning commons services, spaces, and processes to ensure they are accessible and working as planned.
  • Staff Development: Provide leadership and direction to ensure the availability, functionality, and usability of library and learning commons resources and services.
  • Representation: Represent the library and learning commons on college committees and external organizations.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree: A Master's degree from an American Library Association-accredited program is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in library and learning commons leadership, including 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Licensing: A Master's degree from an American Library Association-accredited program is required.
  • Hiring Range: $75,640 - $120,624.
