Gwinnett County Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Psychologist II to join our team. As a key member of our Pre-K Programs Office, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive psychological services to our students and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Comprehensive Assessments: Participate in comprehensive psycho-developmental assessments with a team of professionals, providing information to parents and supporting teachers and program needs through consultation, staff development, and other functions.
- Consultative Services: Provide consultative services to parents and school personnel, identifying problems and developing appropriate intervention strategies, working with parents on areas of behavior, parenting skills, and basic understandings of educational, social, and medical needs of their children.
- Special Education Eligibility: Coordinate the special education eligibility process for new students, reviewing referral, medical, and background data, coordinating the review of assessment information, and conducting eligibility meetings with appropriate staff.
- Community Partnerships: Communicate effectively with community agencies, developing a network of professional contacts with pediatricians, hospitals, and other agencies serving children and families in the program.
- Staff Development: Conduct and/or contribute in staff development initiatives, assisting in needs assessment and developing appropriate presentations, and conducting staff development for teachers, paraprofessionals, Speech Language Pathologists, and others involved in Pre-Kindergarten programs.
- Must hold or be eligible for a valid certificate in school psychology.
- National Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) certification preferred.
- Completion of a state-approved certification preparation program in school psychology at the specialist degree level or higher, or completion of a master's degree plus 60 graduate semester hours/90 quarter hours of school psychology course work from a National Association of School Psychologists (NASP)-approved program.
- Experience in preschool special education psychology preferred.
