Position Overview:

The Purchasing Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in executing tactical responsibilities related to the procurement, expediting, and reporting of fixtures, equipment, and services. This position requires effective collaboration and communication with the purchasing team, various internal departments, contractors, and supply partners to address and resolve issues concerning delivery, quality, packaging, production, and logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and revise purchase orders using the procurement system.
  • Verify vendor product details, shipping information, delivery timelines, budget codes, taxes, and commodity codes.
  • Proofread purchase orders, implement necessary corrections, and secure Buyer or authorized signatures.
  • Monitor and communicate quality, cost, and delivery performance issues to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide updates on purchase order statuses as requested.
  • Facilitate the expediting of shipments to ensure timely deliveries.
  • Address supplier inquiries regarding delivery schedules, back orders, and project timeline adjustments.
  • Conduct follow-ups for upcoming delivery dates and manage overdue or incorrect deliveries.
  • Track purchase order placements and deliveries for new stores, remodels, and capital projects.
  • Assist with procurement and delivery system testing prior to infrastructure rollouts.
  • Support invoice exceptions, receiving errors, and approvals to ensure timely supplier payments.
  • Train third-party construction management teams, team members, and suppliers on procurement procedures and systems.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on various Meijer processes.
  • Generate daily reports and monitor third-party construction delivery date entries.
  • Facilitate merchandising uploads and data entry for construction materials.
  • Serve as a liaison between third-party construction teams, suppliers, and Meijer procurement to resolve discrepancies and timelines.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business or supply chain management preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience in procurement or related fields.
  • Experience in purchasing, supplier collaboration, or supply chain operations.
  • Proficient in reviewing, verifying, and processing requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong communication, time management, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, procurement systems, and data analysis tools.
  • Results-oriented and self-motivated.
