Position Overview:
The Loan Originator is responsible for sourcing new mortgage transactions for the bank. This role serves as the primary liaison for loan applicants, ensuring a smooth process from application to closing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and evaluate new applications, aligning applicants with suitable mortgage programs. The Loan Originator manages the file until loan documents are requested and closing is scheduled, allowing for the pursuit of new business opportunities.
- Assist borrowers in selecting the appropriate loan program, completing applications, and gathering necessary documentation to initiate the loan process.
- Conduct preliminary underwriting assessments.
- Maintain ongoing communication with borrowers throughout the application and closing phases.
- Obtain and analyze credit reports.
- Develop referral networks with real estate agents, builders, bankers, and other sources to proactively generate new business.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience in mortgage loan origination.
- In-depth knowledge of pricing and underwriting standards for various mortgage products.
- Familiarity with residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
- Comprehensive understanding of federal lending regulations, including Truth-in-Lending and RESPA.
- Strong analytical skills for evaluating financial information.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Professional demeanor and sound judgment are essential.
- Proficiency in Outlook is required.
- Must possess National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration as per the S.A.F.E Act of 2008.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
