About the Role:
As a Mortgage Originator at Wintrust Financial, you will be responsible for procuring new mortgage transactions for the bank. Your primary responsibility will be to bring in new loan requests into the bank for processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble and review new applications, matching applicants with suitable mortgage programs.
- Handle files until loan documents are requested and closing is scheduled, allowing you to focus on generating new business.
- Assist borrowers in determining the proper loan program, completing loan applications, and gathering required documentation.
- Conduct preliminary underwriting reviews and remain the primary contact with borrowers throughout the application and closing process.
- Develop referral relationships with realtors, builders, bankers, and other sources to proactively solicit new business.
Requirements:
- Minimum two years of mortgage loan origination experience.
- Thorough knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements for various mortgage products and programs.
- Knowledge of residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of federal lending regulations, including Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and others.
- Ability to analyze financial information and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Pleasant and professional demeanor, with sound judgment and diplomacy.
- Outlook proficiency and National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration under the S.A.F.E Act of 2008.
- Ability to travel.
