POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cargo Operations Specialist plays a crucial role in managing warehouse tasks as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor or Lead Cargo Handler. This position involves various responsibilities within the Miami Warehouse, including cargo acceptance, assembly, disassembly, scanning, securing, and other tasks assigned by management, particularly within our Cooler operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure pallets are constructed correctly to fit the aircraft's specifications.
- Verify that the Unit Load Device (ULD) does not exceed its weight limit.
- Confirm that pallets comply with FAA regulations for air transport.
- Maintain the functionality of warehouse equipment, including forklifts, scales, and scanners.
- Utilize forklift machinery to efficiently stack cargo onto pallets.
- Ensure the safety and security of both personnel and freight.
- Keep the facility and equipment clean and organized.
- Report any damages or discrepancies for claims and record-keeping.
- Participate in cross-training based on operational needs, including cargo acceptance, assembly, securing, scanning, disassembly, staging, and freight handling.
- Complete necessary receiving reports and resolve straightforward issues to facilitate cargo shipment.
- Document shipment details, including weight and dimensions.
- Review all documentation for accuracy regarding received items.
- Input required information such as shipper's name, consignee, weight, and dimensions into an automated system to generate Warehouse Receipts.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.

Qualifications and Skills:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Self-motivated individual capable of working independently.
- Previous warehouse experience and forklift operation knowledge are essential.
- Customer service and conflict resolution experience are advantageous.
- Experience in airline or freight forwarding is preferred.
- Familiarity with HAZMAT materials and handling procedures is a plus.
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence.
- Proficiency in English is required; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Basic mathematical skills for handling measurements and calculations.
- Effective communication skills for presenting information to small groups.
- Comfortable with computerized systems for transaction processing.
- Possess a valid Driver's License that meets company insurance standards.
- Able to obtain necessary security clearances.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Legally authorized to work in the designated country.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but may involve training new team members.
Language Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effective interaction with management and colleagues.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires regular standing, walking, and the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, and the role may involve working in confined spaces. The employee must be able to work under pressure and may be required to work overtime as needed.
