Senior Social Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Social Worker to join our Women's Health team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a critical role in providing direct services and care coordination for women Veterans and their families who require special care due to gender-related issues.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the Women's Health Program Manager in designing, developing, and implementing gender-specific mental health programming for Women Veterans.
- Assist the Women's Health Program Manager in executing ongoing program evaluation and data-driven quality improvement projects to monitor the effectiveness of clinical programming.
- Assist the Women's Health Program Manager in designing and implementing educational and promotional programs and activities focused on women's health and well-being.
- Liaise with other health care programs to effectively coordinate services between the Women Veterans Health Program and appropriate MH programs and services.
- Provide outreach, education to community groups and psychoeducation to patients, family members, significant others, and medical staff regarding care of women Veterans.
- Provide a full range of social work services, including assessment, psychotherapy, and consultation using the most appropriate techniques in providing quality care to women Veterans.
- Facilitate patient and family education appropriate to the care setting and the specific presenting mental or behavioral health issues.
- Provide consultation and training to staff in various departments within Atlanta VA HCS on gender-informed care for women Veterans as needed.
- May supervise social work trainees and may participate in the supervision of trainees in other disciplines, including medical and psychiatric residents.
- May serve on Medical Center committees or task forces at the direction of the immediate supervisor.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- You may be required to serve a probationary period.
- Subject to background/security investigation.
- Selected applicants will be required to complete an online onboarding process.
- Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- Participation in the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination program is a requirement for all Veterans Health Administration Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
- Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).
- Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the school of social work is fully accredited.
- A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work.
- Verification of the degree can be made by going to the CSWE website to verify if that social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a master of social work.
The applicant must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands, exercise patience, and control emotions, with reasonable accommodation if necessary, without endangering the health and safety of the applicant or others.
