Position Overview

This role is situated within the Defense Health Agency, focusing on providing comprehensive healthcare services in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Key Responsibilities

As an OB/GYN Specialist, your duties will include:

  • Assessing both normal and abnormal conditions related to the female reproductive system, including but not limited to masses, pelvic pain, urinary issues, abnormal bleeding, hormonal imbalances, and infections.
  • Conducting and interpreting screening and diagnostic procedures for gynecological cancers, including biopsies and colposcopies, while also providing preventive care and education to patients.
  • Reviewing laboratory results and clinical findings to determine appropriate treatment plans and follow-up care for patients.
  • Performing abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound examinations as part of outpatient care.
  • Engaging in the educational training programs within the department to foster the development of future healthcare providers.

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the educational and experiential criteria outlined below. Relevant experience includes both paid and volunteer work, including service through national programs.

Basic Requirements for OB/GYN Specialist:

Education: A Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada is required. This degree must be recognized by the appropriate accrediting bodies.

Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, unrestricted medical license from a U.S. state or territory.

Graduate Training: A minimum of one year of supervised clinical experience is required, which may include an internship or the first year of residency training.

Residency Training: Successful completion of an accredited residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology is mandatory, along with equivalent experience totaling at least four years.

Foreign Education: If applicable, candidates must provide evidence that their foreign education has been evaluated and deemed equivalent to U.S. standards.
