Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish language, linguistics, culture, and special topics, as assigned.

  • Provide academic advising to majors in the department.
  • Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Maintain a professional development agenda to stay current in the field.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve program-wide student learning outcomes.
  • Participate in departmental and program meetings.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Spanish or Hispanic Studies with a focus in Sociolinguistics or Second Language Acquisition.
  • At least three years of college or university instruction in Spanish.
  • Native or near-native language proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • Training and teaching experience in global languages and culture is preferred.

Preferred Qualities

  • Proven effectiveness in teaching and advising.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Strong research and publication record.
