Critical Care Veterinary Technician

Position Overview:
Critical Care Veterinary Technician (Contingent / Per Diem)
Are you an individual who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced setting? Our Emergency team is ideal for technicians who enjoy a variety of tasks and can adapt quickly to critical situations. Each day presents unique challenges, ensuring that no two cases are ever the same.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct organized rounds, document findings, and discuss cases while gathering necessary information.
- Assess incoming patients and prioritize their needs based on evaluations.
- Collaborate with the patient care team on treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care issues.
- Educate clients on home care instructions, medication details (including indications and potential side effects), and general wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
- Assist veterinarians with patient evaluations, treatments, and procedures.
- Monitor and provide nursing care for hospitalized patients.
- Induce and oversee general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
- Perform in-house laboratory tests and prepare samples for external laboratory analysis.
- Must possess a State Registered Veterinary Technician license.
- Previous veterinary experience is required; emergency experience is preferred.
- Strong proficiency in calculations related to medications and treatments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and additional shifts as needed.
- Ability to perform efficiently in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Shift differentials and on-call compensation.
