Role Overview
SMBC Capital Markets Inc. is seeking a skilled Application Software Engineer to join our Software Development team. This role is pivotal in supporting our mid-office, finance, and operations functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in the technical design and development of software solutions tailored for the Capital Markets sector, encompassing both internal and external applications.
  • Contribute technical expertise to mission-critical projects, focusing on development environments, technology architecture, and implementation strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with business users and analysts to ensure software applications align with user specifications and requirements.
  • Interact with the broader development team to share design insights and solutions, enhancing the overall objectives of the team.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3-10 years of professional experience in software development and systems implementation, with a proven ability to design and architect software solutions.
  • Proficiency in C# and the Microsoft .NET framework.
  • Experience with web technologies such as ASP.NET, MVC, JQuery, JavaScript, IIS, and Angular.
  • Strong understanding of database concepts and experience with relational databases, preferably SQL Server.
  • Expertise in developing WEB APIs (REST services) and Web Services.
  • Familiarity with BPM development or OpenText MBPM (Metastorm) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Python and C/C++ programming languages is a plus.
  • Experience in Fixed Income business and products is beneficial.
  • A degree in computer science from a reputable institution or equivalent experience.

Work Environment
SMBC promotes a hybrid work model, allowing employees to work both remotely and from the office. Employees are expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance from their designated office location. Specific hybrid work schedules will be discussed during the interview process.
