The Optometrist will be responsible for overseeing the vision clinic, ensuring that it is fully operational during clinic hours and that services are available as scheduled. This includes supervising opticians and other optical staff, providing routine eye exams and urgent care, and making timely referrals to specialists or other providers when necessary.

The ideal candidate will have a valid O.D. state license, be board certified or eligible in Optometry, and have one to three years of experience in a leadership position. Additionally, they will be certified in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the vision clinic and ensure it is fully operational during clinic hours
  • Supervise opticians and other optical staff
  • Provide routine eye exams and urgent care
  • Make timely referrals to specialists or other providers when necessary
  • Monitor patient treatment and coordinate care
  • Ensure documentation of care meets established standards of quality
  • Act as a day-to-day resource to physicians and medical clinic staff regarding vision care issues
  • Review medical utilization data and participate in studies to develop cost-benefit information for the primary care vision clinic
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and maintain records of such meetings
  • Participate in the recruiting process, including referrals, interviews, and/or skills assessments
  • Work cooperatively with clinic management team to ensure a productive and smooth vision clinic operation
  • Assist in responding to patient concerns about care issues and work to solve problems and improve patient care
  • Assist in the preparation, investigation, and follow-up of incident reports
  • Develop vision care protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with accepted standards of quality
  • Assist in the promotion of the vision/medical clinic
  • Maintain OSHA compliance standards

Requirements:

  • Valid O.D. state license
  • Board certified or eligible in Optometry
  • One to three years of experience in a leadership position
  • Certified in AHA or ARC Basic Life Support for healthcare providers

Pay Range: $60.00-$70.00/hr

The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate's years of experience and/or skill level.
