The Manager of Surgical Services is a licensed professional nurse who provides strategic leadership and oversight for a designated unit(s) or service area, utilizing expertise and skills to foster a center of excellence for staff engagement and clinical outcomes. This role serves as the standard bearer within the unit, ensuring accountability for the delivery of care and services through effective communication, observation, and management of specific practices and their associated results. Key responsibilities encompass clinical, financial, human, and material resource management and the achievement of related objectives.
The Manager plays a pivotal role as the chief officer for retention and safety, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards through data-driven decision-making and proactive risk mitigation strategies. This position is responsible for cultivating a safe and desirable work environment that aligns with the organization’s mission and objectives. The Manager exemplifies effective communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and other departments, fostering a culture of teamwork and excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Resource Management:
- Involve staff in decision-making through shared governance, collaborating with others to promote relationship-centered care delivery systems that enhance patient care and service excellence while providing effective leadership for a specific clinical unit.
- Act as the chief officer for retention and safety, managing talent and deploying human and material resources effectively.
- Analyze and manage financial resources, utilizing quality improvement methodologies to enhance operational performance and clinical care systems; integrate marketing strategies to advance service lines and organizational goals.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with diverse audiences regarding nursing, healthcare, and organizational matters, establishing standards and holding staff accountable for performance.
- Foster partnerships through strong relationship-building skills with staff, departments, and medical professionals, promoting a healthy workplace and positive team dynamics.
- Create professional development opportunities for staff and leaders, implementing strategies to attract and retain talented personnel.
Exemplary Practice and Outcomes:

Required Qualifications:

Licensure and Certification:

Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in nursing management is required.
