Job Overview

The Haltom City Public Works Department is seeking a dedicated individual to perform a range of maintenance tasks. This role involves the operation and upkeep of various departmental tools and equipment, while also adapting to diverse weather conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Repairing and resurfacing municipal roadways; laying asphalt and concrete; backfilling trenches and curbs.
  • Installing and/or repairing traffic signs and barricades; constructing signage as required.
  • Performing landscaping duties such as mowing, weed removal, and sod installation; trimming trees and hedges; applying pesticides and herbicides as necessary.
  • Operating heavy machinery including bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, rollers, dump trucks, and water trucks; ensuring equipment cleanliness and conducting preventive maintenance.
  • Transporting materials and equipment to various job sites; loading and unloading trailers.
  • Fabricating tools and devices; performing welding tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in public works maintenance, or a combination of education and experience that is equivalent.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Class A Texas Commercial Driver's License within one year of employment.

Incentive pay is available for candidates who possess a CDL.
