Job Summary
Monument Health is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and contributing to the admission nursing assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct age-specific patient care as assigned and contribute to the admission nursing assessment through data gathering and reporting to the registered nurse.
- Assist in maintaining a therapeutic milieu through monitoring patients' activities and behaviors, reporting to the charge nurse, and intervening when necessary using Crisis Prevention interventions to ensure safety of the unit.
- Communicate actual or potential problems to the appropriate person in charge and complete variances, incidents, work orders, and trackers.
- Promote teamwork, accept direction from registered nurses, and perform responsibilities willingly with a positive impact on patients and coworkers.
- Contribute to the delivery of patient care in accordance with the patient plan of care, utilizing age-specific growth and development guidelines as delegated by the nurse.
- Complete chart documentation and review target dates daily.
- Assist with basic ADL care and provide patients with educational materials and hold didactic sessions under the guidance of the registered nurse or mental health counselor.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Preferred: 1+ years of acute experience and 1+ years of behavioral health experience; Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Sciences
- Ability to work designated shift lengths, including 8 and 12 hours, which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours
Physical Requirements
This role requires the ability to exert over 25 pounds of force constantly, more than 50 pounds frequently, and more than 100 pounds occasionally. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
