Job Summary:

To coordinate and monitor care of patients in the assigned clinical area, ensuring seamless delivery of high-quality services. Key responsibilities include:

Lead RN Duties:
  • Developing and implementing monthly staffing schedules and day-to-day work assignments to optimize departmental efficiency.
  • Assessing workloads and making special assignments during peak and slow periods to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Coordinating with other clinical teams to cover staff shortages and process provider schedule changes.
  • Handling difficult and problematic work situations, including resolving member issues and escalating to management as needed.
  • Serving as a resource for other staff members by answering questions, orienting new staff, and identifying staff needs for training.
  • Performing special projects as assigned by the manager, including implementing new workflows and processes.
  • Routinely providing feedback to the manager on staff performance, work habits, and barriers to efficient, high-quality work.
  • Assisting with the development and revision of department policies and procedures.
Additional Regular RN Duties:
  • Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating a plan of care for peritoneal dialysis patients.
  • Administering oral and injecting medications in the department.
  • Ensuring narcotics and drug supplies are available and properly secured.
  • Initiating and monitoring IV therapy and peritoneal dialysis exchanges.
  • Providing ongoing assurance of functional emergency equipment and adequate emergency drug supplies.
  • Documenting emergency situations and coordinating with the clinical operations manager.
Requirements:
  • Minimum six months experience providing peritoneal dialysis self-care training.
  • Minimum one year of current experience in a HMO or ambulatory setting.
  • Minimum one year experience in nursing care of patients on home maintenance peritoneal dialysis or end-stage renal patients.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License (Maryland) within six months of hire, and Registered Nurse License (Virginia) within six months of hire, or Compact License: Registered Nurse within six months of hire, and Registered Nurse License (District of Columbia) within six months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
