Position Overview:

The Senior Security Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and safe environment for all individuals within the healthcare facility, including patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a visible security presence throughout the premises to deter potential disturbances.
  • Conduct thorough screenings of all individuals entering the facility and monitor guest activities to prevent incidents.
  • Investigate reports of lost or stolen items reported by staff or patients.

Daily Duties:

  • Perform regular security patrols of both internal and external areas to ensure safety and order.
  • Respond to various disturbances involving patients, employees, or visitors, and manage lost and found items.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement when necessary to address serious offenses.
  • Engage in covert operations aimed at preventing theft and other crimes.
  • Assist individuals in obtaining restraining orders when required.

Training and Development:

Participate in annual training sessions covering topics such as Active Shooter response, weapon handling, and crisis intervention techniques.

Reporting and Monitoring:

  • Identify and manage unauthorized individuals on campus, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Enforce regulations regarding parking and traffic flow within the facility.
  • Respond promptly to emergency codes and assist with barricading areas for special events.

Support for Staff and Patients:

  • Assist healthcare staff in managing aggressive or combative patients.
  • Utilize security equipment to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
  • Provide transportation services as needed for various situations.

Equipment Management:

Operate and maintain security systems, including surveillance and access control, while safeguarding patient valuables.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of relevant security experience.
  • Preferred: Completion of a Police Academy program and additional years of security experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid driver's license and required training certifications.
  • Preferred: Additional certifications in defensive driving and healthcare security.

Work Schedule:

This position requires flexibility in working hours to meet the needs of the facility.
