Position Title: Prototype Specialist – Light Industrial

Working Hours: Generally, Monday to Friday, totaling forty hours each week.

  • Engage in hands-on experimentation and fundamental scientific procedures.
  • Integrate into systems and execute essential experimental tasks related to applied research.
  • Prepare raw materials manually.
  • Measure and cut various materials with precision using hand tools and cutting boards.
  • Assemble prototype products and components by hand.
  • Layer precut materials and components onto product patterns, adhering to strict dimensional specifications.
  • Modify commercially produced products through careful disassembly and reassembly with new components.
  • Operate machinery as required, ensuring accurate placement and monitoring of operational parameters.
  • Conduct manual inspection, packaging, and labeling of prototype products, ensuring quality control.
  • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the workspace, including machinery and tools.
  • Maintain an organized laboratory environment by storing materials and tools appropriately.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of microbiology and/or molecular biology principles.
  • Strong grasp of aseptic techniques.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication regarding sample status and experimental progress.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities as laboratory capabilities evolve.
  • Collaborative mindset, willing to assist colleagues and clients in the lab.
  • Basic proficiency in computer software related to instrumentation and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline; a degree in Microbiology is preferred.

Physical and Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
  • Frequent use of hands for repetitive tasks.
  • Capability to stand for extended periods.
  • Regular reaching and twisting movements.
