- Engage in hands-on experimentation and foundational scientific work, including procedural tasks.
- Integrate into company systems and conduct essential experimental activities for daily applied research.
- Manage the manual preparation of raw materials.
- Accurately measure and cut various materials using hand tools and cutting boards, often requiring precise dimensions.
- Assemble prototype products and components by hand.
- Layer precut materials and components onto product patterns with strict adherence to dimensional specifications, including hand-trimming edges.
- Modify existing products through careful disassembly and reassembly, ensuring precise dimensional accuracy.
- Operate machinery as required for projects, maintaining attention to product placement, machine operation, and monitoring of parameters such as pressure and temperature.
- Conduct manual inspection, packaging, and labeling of prototype products, ensuring quality control through careful examination and sorting.
- Perform daily and biannual cleaning tasks, including maintenance of machinery and lab spaces.
- Maintain organization within the lab by returning materials and tools to their designated places.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of microbiology and/or molecular biology principles.
- Strong grasp of aseptic techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail and quick problem-solving abilities.
- Open communication regarding the status of samples and experiments.
- Adaptability to shifting priorities as laboratory capabilities evolve.
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and clients in the lab environment.
- Basic computer software proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite.
Educational Background:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline; a degree in Microbiology is preferred.
Physical and Travel Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
- Frequent use of hands for repetitive tasks.
- Capability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequent reaching and twisting movements.
