Teaching Opportunity for Interdisciplinary Studies

The University of Virginia School of Continuing and Professional Studies is seeking qualified candidates to teach for the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies Program. The program offers a range of disciplines, including History, Organizational Leadership, Political Science, Psychology, and Writing and Literature.

Candidates must have a minimum of a master's degree or terminal degree in an appropriate field of study. A terminal degree is strongly preferred. Applicants must be committed to teaching non-traditional students online in asynchronous and synchronous formats, and preferably professional experience in the field.

To apply, please submit an application online through Workday and attach a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for three professional references. Please indicate in your cover letter the discipline(s) that you are interested in teaching.

Applications for this faculty wage position will be considered on an ongoing basis as instructional needs arise throughout the academic year. Instructional openings for the summer semester are typically filled in February and March, for the fall semester in June and July, and instructional needs for the spring are typically filled in November and December.

Please note that this is a part-time, non-tenure track position which does not carry benefits. Faculty wage appointments are subject to change and carry no expectation of renewal.

The University will perform background checks on all new hires prior to employment. This position will also require an education verification.

The University of Virginia is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, marital status, national or ethnic origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, veteran status, and family medical or genetic information.
