Facility Maintenance Technician

Salary: Negotiable based on experience
Objective:
The primary goal of this role is to uphold maintenance protocols and procedures effectively and economically, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of residents while adhering to all relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
- Preferred: High School diploma or G.E.D. with demonstrated literacy skills.
- Experience in maintenance is advantageous.
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, as well as cleaning equipment relevant to the role.
- Valid driver's license and insurance required for vehicle operation.
- Must maintain a clean driving record and demonstrate safe driving practices.
- Basic computer literacy is necessary.
- Exceptional customer service abilities and a welcoming attitude.
- Capacity to stand for extended periods.
- Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
- Minimum age requirement: Twenty-Five (25) years.
- No convictions related to the services outlined in this job description.
- Must communicate effectively in English or a language understood by a significant portion of residents.
- Physical capability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, and other physical activities.
- Possess qualities that foster positive interpersonal relationships, such as respect, kindness, and loyalty.
- Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
- Willingness to work at any assigned Northfield Retirement Communities facility.
- Ability to work independently without direct oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine cleaning and upkeep of grounds, amenities, and facility interiors and exteriors.
- Regularly detail both interior and exterior spaces using standard cleaning tools (e.g., broom, mop, vacuum) to maintain cleanliness.
- Assist with snow removal from sidewalks and entry areas as per policy.
- Participate in on-call rotation with the maintenance team.
- Maintain cleanliness in storage and workshop areas.
- Deliver packages to residents and staff as needed.
- Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and local health and safety laws.
- Understand and implement safe work practices across various trades, including:
- Lockout Tag-out procedures
- Ladder Safety protocols
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Handling Hazardous Chemicals
- Working from Elevated Surfaces
- And all other relevant Safety Protocols
- Follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and facility safety programs.
- Report any areas in need of repair or equipment malfunctions.
- Safely operate vehicles as required.
- Perform system checks, including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and emergency lighting.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and colleagues.
- Handle residents' valuables with care and confidentiality.
- Present a professional appearance in uniform with nametag.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in attendance.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity regarding resident information.
- Observe infection control procedures and adhere to Resident's Rights policies.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
