Job Overview

Salary: Negotiable based on experience

Objective:

The primary goal of this role is to uphold maintenance protocols and procedures effectively and economically, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of residents while adhering to all relevant regulations.

Qualifications:

  1. Preferred: High School diploma or G.E.D. with demonstrated literacy skills.
  2. Experience in maintenance is advantageous.
  3. Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, as well as cleaning equipment relevant to the role.
  4. Valid driver's license and insurance required for vehicle operation.
  5. Must maintain a clean driving record and demonstrate safe driving practices.
  6. Basic computer literacy is necessary.
  7. Exceptional customer service abilities and a welcoming attitude.
  8. Capacity to stand for extended periods.
  9. Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  10. Experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles.
  11. Minimum age requirement: Twenty-Five (25) years.
  12. No convictions related to the services outlined in this job description.
  13. Must communicate effectively in English or a language understood by a significant portion of residents.
  14. Physical capability to perform job duties, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing, bending, and other physical activities.
  15. Possess qualities that foster positive interpersonal relationships, such as respect, kindness, and loyalty.
  16. Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.
  17. Willingness to work at any assigned Northfield Retirement Communities facility.
  18. Ability to work independently without direct oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine cleaning and upkeep of grounds, amenities, and facility interiors and exteriors.
  2. Regularly detail both interior and exterior spaces using standard cleaning tools (e.g., broom, mop, vacuum) to maintain cleanliness.
  3. Assist with snow removal from sidewalks and entry areas as per policy.
  4. Participate in on-call rotation with the maintenance team.
  5. Maintain cleanliness in storage and workshop areas.
  6. Deliver packages to residents and staff as needed.
  7. Adhere to all OSHA safety regulations and local health and safety laws.
  8. Understand and implement safe work practices across various trades, including:
    1. Lockout Tag-out procedures
    2. Ladder Safety protocols
    3. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    4. Handling Hazardous Chemicals
    5. Working from Elevated Surfaces
    6. And all other relevant Safety Protocols
  9. Follow Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and facility safety programs.
  10. Report any areas in need of repair or equipment malfunctions.
  11. Safely operate vehicles as required.
  12. Perform system checks, including fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and emergency lighting.
  13. Ensure a safe and clean environment for residents and colleagues.
  14. Handle residents' valuables with care and confidentiality.
  15. Present a professional appearance in uniform with nametag.
  16. Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in attendance.
  17. Maintain confidentiality and integrity regarding resident information.
  18. Observe infection control procedures and adhere to Resident's Rights policies.
  19. Complete additional duties as assigned.
