Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Northwestern Medicine in the Cardiology EP department. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will work closely with physicians to provide exceptional patient care and contribute to the development of our clinical programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, demonstrating clinical expertise and advanced knowledge in cardiology.
  • Diagnose and manage acute and chronic health problems within the specialty area of practice.
  • Collaborate and consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals in the area of clinical expertise.
  • Develop educational systems and strategies for teaching patients, families, and staff on topics related to cardiology.
  • Mentor graduate students in aspects of advanced practice.
  • Participate in and/or conduct research pertinent to the area of expertise.
Performance Standards
  • Clinical: Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status, provide direct clinical care, order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests, and develop a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Leadership: Participate in unit/departmental/divisional or hospital committees/task forces and professional organizations, advocate for patients and families, and assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Education: Teach and counsel patients and families in preventive care, medical conditions, and plan of care, and develop and participate in programs to meet educational needs of the clinical team.
  • Research/Quality/Outcomes: Identify relevant areas of clinical research, assist with development and coordination of research protocols and quality projects, and participate in service-line specific quality initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Masters degree from an accredited school/college of nursing.
  • Registered Professional Nurse (IL) license.
  • Advance Practice Registered Nurse (IL) license.
  • Advanced Practice Registered Nurse certification by a national certifying body as approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with cardiology patients.
