Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Breast Imaging Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente's Tysons Corner Medical Center. As a key member of our imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Responsibilities
  • Perform mammography and other related breast imaging procedures, adhering to ACR and FDA guidelines.
  • Conduct patient assessments and provide care to meet patient needs, documenting all interactions and procedures.
  • Assist physicians in performing image-guided diagnostic and invasive procedures, such as stereotactic biopsies and needle localizations.
  • Apply knowledge of radiation protection principles to minimize radiation exposure for patients, self, and others.
  • Maintain patient and department records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with departmental protocols.
  • Perform equipment quality control, recognizing and reporting any malfunctions or variations to the mammography manager or maintenance team.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to students and other mammographers, demonstrating effective communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Stay up-to-date with departmental standard operating procedures, including quality control requirements and preventative maintenance.
  • Assess equipment problems, taking corrective action as needed, and requesting repairs from outside entities when necessary.
  • Participate in the continuous quality improvement process, contributing to the development of new procedures and protocols.
Requirements
  • Three years of total mammography experience, including one year of experience with breast biopsy procedures.
  • Associates degree or accredited hospital-based radiologic technology program.
  • Radiologic Technologist License (Virginia) and Basic Life Support certification.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to lift objects heavier than 50 pounds, perform difficult manipulative skills, and walk/stand for prolonged periods.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients and colleagues.
