Job Title: Surgical Technician/RN Scrub Specialist

Iowa Orthopaedic Center PC is seeking a skilled Surgical Technician or RN to join our team at our state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center.

Job Summary:

This role involves providing surgical support for all bone, muscle, joint, and spine cases, while maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of aseptic technique, medical terminology, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Scrubs surgical cases and maintains knowledge of equipment set-up and functioning
  • Assists in the circulating role under the direct supervision of RN
  • Prepares for surgical cases in an efficient manner, anticipating needs of patient, surgeon, anesthesia provider, and other OR team members
  • Provides a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to standards of aseptic technique and department policy
  • Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, team members, and ancillary staff
  • Participates in the performance improvement process and adheres to regulatory compliance throughout the organization
Requirements:
  • Completion of Surgical Technology program and/or RN license to practice in State of Iowa
  • Strong understanding of aseptic technique in the operating room
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to surgical procedures
  • Prior experience in Orthopedics preferred
  • Ability to maintain a BLS qualification for Surg Tech, ACLS for RN
  • Ability to perform in situations requiring set limits, standards, and strict adherence to established procedures and guidelines
  • Excellent data collection and documentation skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to maintain composure in emergency, critical, and/or uncommon situations
