Orthopedic Nurse Specialist Opportunity

Iowa Orthopaedic Center PC is seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at our state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center in Grimes, IA. As an Orthopedic Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support for surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and evaluate patients preoperatively to ensure a smooth patient flow.
  • Review patient charts and ensure completeness, including surgical and anesthesia consents.
  • Maintain knowledge of equipment and stay up-to-date on current perioperative nursing trends.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, physicians, patients, and other team members.
  • Conduct assessments according to facility guidelines.
  • Prepare for surgical cases efficiently, anticipating the needs of patients, surgeons, and other team members.
  • Provide a safe environment for patients and staff by implementing aseptic technique and controlling the physical and psychological aspects of the environment.
  • Circulate cases independently as assigned.
  • Assist with airway management when necessary.
  • Perform ongoing physiological assessments throughout the surgical experience, including medication and pain management.
  • Participate in the performance improvement process and assist with regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrate competence in specified computer applications.
  • Adhere to Joint Commission standards and CMS Rules and Regulations.

Requirements:

  • R.N. with a license to practice in the State of Iowa.
  • OR nursing experience preferred.
  • Mandatory reporting course within the previous 3 years.
  • Maintains BCLS qualification.
  • Knowledge of perioperative services and patient education desired.
  • Maintains ACLS qualification or obtains within 6 months of hire.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • IV skill preferred.
