Construction Carpenter

We are seeking a skilled Construction Carpenter to join our team at Lewis Contractors. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, erecting, installing, and repairing forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials.

• Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Construct interior wall framing and partitions utilizing various types of materials such as light metal framing, wood studs, and steel.
• Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
• Hang various wall covering materials such as drywall, cement panels, and wood paneling.
• Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
• Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
• Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
• Create wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, or sewer construction projects.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
• Install windows and doors & hardware.
• Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.

• Commercial Carpentry Experience
• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Ability to perform general interior building wall layout.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
• Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
• Works well as part of a team.
