Skilled Carpenter

At Lewis Contractors, we are seeking a highly skilled Construction Carpenter to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for building, erecting, installing, and repairing forms, structures, and other fixtures made from wood and other materials.

• Measure, mark, and arrange materials to established layout based on blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
• Construct interior wall framing and partitions utilizing various types of materials such as Light metal framing, wood studs, and steel.
• Cut and shape structures, forms, or other fixtures from wood, plastic, fiberglass, or drywall.
• Hang various wall covering materials such as drywall, cement panels, wood paneling. Some degree of drywall finishing is a plus.
• Use various hand and power tools to securely build assigned projects.
• Join materials with the most appropriate nail, screw, staple, or adhesive.
• Ensure the accuracy of work by checking completed projects with tools such as levels, surveying equipment, or framing squares; corrects problems as needed.
• Create wooden forms for pouring concrete or for tunnels, bridges, or sewer construction projects.
• Erect and dismantle scaffolding.
• Install windows and doors & hardware.
• Adhere to local building and safety codes and guidelines.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Ability to perform general interior building wall layout a plus.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
• Thorough understanding of carpentry principles and methods.
• Works well as part of a team.
