Adams County, Colorado is seeking a skilled Parks Maintenance Worker II to join our team. As a key member of our Parks and Open Space department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties involved in the maintenance of parks, trails, and related facilities.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform turf maintenance duties, including watering, mowing, weeding, trimming, aerating, renovating, and fertilizing turf.
- Perform shrub and flower bed maintenance, including planting, watering, fertilizing, and maintaining landscaped areas.
- Trim and prune bushes, trees, and shrubs to provide clearance and ensure their health.
- Maintain and repair the irrigation system, including changing and adjusting heads, maintaining controllers, and assisting in installation and maintenance projects.
- Operate a variety of grounds maintenance vehicles and equipment, including dump trucks, mowers, edgers, blowers, forklifts, tractors, loaders, and hand and power tools.
- Inspect and maintain play equipment, picnic tables, and other related parks equipment and facilities.
- Remove fallen trees, stumps, and debris resulting from storm damage and general conditions.
- Patrol parks and trails, identifying maintenance needs and safety hazards, and reporting them to appropriate staff.
- Remove graffiti along trails, in parks, and in other areas.
- Clean and maintain restrooms, stock them with necessary supplies, and repair toilets, urinals, and faucets.
- Perform winterizing maintenance in parks, gardens, and County-owned facilities, and remove snow.
- Assist in the construction of various projects and the maintenance of roads and parking lots.
- Deal courteously and tactfully with the public, providing information regarding rules and regulations of the parks, trails, and other facilities.
- Two years of experience in the maintenance of trails, parks, or related facilities.
- A valid Class B Colorado Commercial Driver's License within nine months of hire.
- Ability to sit, stand, kneel, crouch, squat, stoop, reach, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 50 pounds.
- Exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, confining work space, electrical hazards, vibration, chemicals, dust, toxic waste, mechanical hazards, and explosive materials.
