Job Title: Electrical Inspector

Join the City of Peoria, IL team as an Electrical Inspector and contribute to ensuring the safety and quality of electrical installations in our community.

About the Role:

The Electrical Inspector will work in the Community Development Department, responsible for inspecting and evaluating electrical installations in commercial, residential, and multi-family dwellings. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical codes and regulations, as well as excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and evaluate electrical installations to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
  • Verify permits and ensure that electrical installations meet code requirements
  • Provide technical assistance to contractors, engineers, and the public on electrical-related matters
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintain detailed records of inspections
  • Collaborate with code enforcement staff, fire inspectors, and other stakeholders to ensure electrical safety and compliance
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from an accredited two-year college or technical school
  • Over two years up to and including four years of progressively responsible related experience
  • Valid State Driver's License

Residency Requirement:

An employee hired on or after January 1, 2023, must reside within the City of Peoria. An employee's unauthorized residency outside the City of Peoria shall be grounds for immediate termination.
