Healthcare Professional Geriatric Care Specialist

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse with a strong positive attitude toward customer service. This person will have a genuine interest in geriatric care and be able to motivate while maintaining relationships with staff and residents.
The ideal candidate will always strive to do their best job possible, be creative, and work towards accomplishing facility goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily supervision and leadership to assigned staff and directly provide nursing care to residents as assigned
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living, family/social activities, and actively promote independent lifestyles of residents
- Initiate individual plans of care based on healthcare goals, physician orders, and nursing assessments
- Assist residents in and out of bed or wheelchair with proper transfer equipment
- Record vital signs, nourishment logs, and other patient records as necessary
- Ensure the unit and resident room areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience
- Maintain work areas and keep the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards
- Respond to all call lights promptly
- Assist in ensuring the maximum quality of life for all residents by maintaining privacy, accommodating individual preferences, promoting independence, encouraging participation in facility activities and events, and communicating respectfully at all times
- Maintain continuous communication with physicians and team leaders
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a current State of Texas license
- Ability to communicate in a courteous and friendly manner
- Capable of functioning independently, having flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively
- Must maintain a valid driver's license, automobile insurance coverage, and access to an automobile
- Ability to push a minimum of 200 lbs and push such weight a minimum distance of 200 ft
