Key Responsibilities:- Collect blood specimens from patients using capillary and venipuncture techniques.
- Assist patients with non-blood collections and provide exceptional customer service.
- Perform patient identification and specimen labeling according to standard operating procedures.
- Understand phlebotomy processes and techniques to obtain quality blood specimens.
- Process laboratory and patient reports according to standard operating procedure.
- Recognize problems, take appropriate action, document problems, and follow protocol to notify the Supervisor of problems in a timely manner.
- Actively communicate throughout the shift and manage priority requests in a courteous and timely manner to ensure effective department workflow.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a phlebotomy or medical laboratory setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of start date.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
The Phlebotomist will work in a medical laboratory setting, with occasional point-of-care patient testing. The work environment will be fast-paced, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service and ensuring accurate and efficient specimen collection.
