Job Summary:

The Phlebotomist collects blood specimens from patients of all ages, assists patients with non-blood collections, and ensures specimen integrity through accurate patient identification, labeling, and transport. This role also involves occasional point-of-care patient testing, such as glucose monitoring, and providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform patient identification and specimen labeling according to standard operating procedures.
  • Understand phlebotomy processes and techniques to obtain quality blood specimens.
  • Perform, interpret, and report point-of-care testing and quality control.
  • Process laboratory and patient reports according to standard operating procedure.
  • Recognize problems, take appropriate action, document issues, and notify supervisors in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively throughout the shift and manage priority requests in a courteous and timely manner.

Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of start date.
