Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Instructor in Music to join our faculty at Lane College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching applied percussion, music theory, and principles of music to a diverse student body.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach 3 to 9 credit-hours per semester, developing and delivering engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of our students.
  • Provide academic advising to students, helping them to achieve their academic and career goals.
  • Participate in departmental activities, contributing to the development of curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Exercise strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and administrators, using excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations, demonstrating a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks effectively, using excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite or related software to support teaching and administrative tasks.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Masters Degree in Music or Music Education or higher, with 18 graduate credit hours in a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • A teaching load not exceeding 9 credits per semester.
  • Evidence of outstanding teaching or teaching potential, as demonstrated through teaching experience or a strong academic record.
  • A commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body.
  • The ability to perform tasks that require walking, climbing stairs, sitting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • The ability to lift 10lbs. 1% of the time.
  • The flexibility to work some nights and weekends, as required.
