Job Overview

The Geoscience Application Specialist plays a crucial role in the development, configuration, maintenance, and technical support of geoscience-related software applications. This position demands outstanding customer service skills and a proactive approach to managing various technology tasks, ranging from straightforward to complex. The role reports directly to the Vice President of Information and Technology.

Key Responsibilities

· Serve as the subject matter expert for the geoscience application suite, which encompasses applications such as Aries, Harmony, Entersight, Petra, TKS, EasyCopy, PDL, TGS, Enerdeq, and Power BI.

· Provide support for applications by resolving issues and guiding users through helpdesk software, ensuring that the causes and resolutions of issues are thoroughly documented.

· Coordinate testing and manage scheduled application maintenance, releases, and significant version upgrades in accordance with IT change management policies.

· Collaborate with business users to propose and implement solutions that streamline daily operations by utilizing new or existing IT resources.

· Collect and document requirements from business users through various methods including interviews, document analysis, workshops, surveys, site visits, and workflow analysis.

· Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for employees and staff augmentation team members.

· Generate reports as needed to assist business users in addressing specific inquiries.

· Plan, organize, and execute special IT projects aimed at enhancing the company's operational activities as directed by IT management.

· Be available around the clock for critical application system issues that may arise.

· Perform additional IT support functions as assigned.

Qualifications

· A Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering, management information systems, or computer science is required.

· A minimum of 5 years of experience in the oil and gas sector is essential.

· Proven experience in utilizing and managing geoscience-focused applications.

· Ability to prioritize work and manage project deliverables for implementations, enhancements, problem resolution, and upgrades while collaborating with various stakeholders.

· Comprehensive understanding of the software development lifecycle and change management processes.

· A self-motivated individual capable of working independently and collaboratively on tasks and projects with minimal supervision.

· Strong communication skills to effectively engage with both technical and non-technical audiences across different organizational levels.

· Detail-oriented with a strong emphasis on delivering high-quality results.

· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

· A strong customer service orientation and focus.
