We are seeking a qualified Lecturer in Deaf Studies to join our Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching upper-level courses in Deaf Studies, including ASL linguistics, Deaf culture, and Deaf history.
Responsibilities- Teach upper-level courses in Deaf Studies, including ASL linguistics, Deaf culture, and Deaf history
- Develop and implement curriculum for Deaf Studies courses
- Advise students in the Deaf Studies program
- Participate in departmental and university service
MA in Deaf Studies, American Sign Language (ASL), or a related area required; PhD preferred. Proficiency in ASL required. Ability to teach upper-level ASL courses required. Ability to teach all levels of ASL and upper-level Deaf Studies content courses in two or more of the following areas: ASL linguistics, Deaf culture, Deaf history, literature and film in the Deaf community, development of signed language and reading skills in Deaf children, DeafBlind culture communication.
