Job Responsibilities:

The pilot is responsible for ensuring that aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients to healthcare facilities within designated operational areas. Key responsibilities include:

  • Operating Air Methods aircraft safely and in compliance with regulations.
  • Conducting thorough pre-flight inspections to confirm aircraft airworthiness.
  • Maintaining final authority over aircraft operations and the safety of all onboard.
  • Familiarizing with all aircraft and medical systems used in operations.
  • Completing necessary documentation accurately.
  • Engaging in detailed flight planning as required.
  • Participating in company meetings and community outreach initiatives.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Regular attendance is essential for this position. All employees must adhere to company policies and practices.

Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Associates degree or equivalent experience; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Two to five years of relevant experience.
  • Maintaining a weight not exceeding 250 pounds and being under 70 years of age.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with colleagues and the public.
  • Recent flight experience within the last 24 months.

Flight Experience Requirements:

  • 2000 total flight hours, with at least 1500 in category.
  • 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in category.
  • 500 hours of rotor wing turbine experience.
  • 200 hours of cross-country flight time, including 50 hours at night.
  • 50 hours of actual or hood instrument time in flight.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Instrument rating for the category and class of aircraft.
  • Commercial single-engine land license for single-engine aircraft.
  • First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate.
