Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating CT equipment, preparing patients for examination, and ensuring that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CT equipment to obtain high-quality images for diagnostic purposes
  • Prepare patients for examination by explaining procedures, positioning patients, and ensuring patient comfort and safety
  • Ensure that proper information has been obtained for the physician to make a diagnosis, including patient history and other pertinent information
  • Adjust and ensure proper slice thickness and couch increment, and extend parameters as needed within established imaging protocols
  • Calculate number of scans to obtain based on patient size, and operate CT equipment to ensure required images are obtained as ordered by the Radiologist
  • Select proper exposure factors based on anatomical site, pediatric vs adult patient, and follow established CTDI parameters
  • Utilize special devices to reduce exposure to ionizing radiation of radiosensitive areas
  • Transmit cases to on-call Radiologist through use of Tele-Radiology system
  • Administer intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents per Radiologist order, and verify there are no contraindications to administration of IV contrast agent
  • Perform venipuncture of appropriate gauge necessary for examination, and utilize power injector to administer IV contrast
  • Recognize and assist in the treatment of contrast agent reactions and IV extravasations
Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist with certification in IV contrast administration
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registration in Computed Tomography R.T. (CT)(ARRT) within 18 months of entry date into position
  • Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS)
  • Previous CT experience preferred
