About the Position:

Wells Fargo is looking for a Risk Management Associate to join our Transactional Risk & Intelligence Group (TRIG), which plays a vital role in supporting Financial Crimes Operations within our Enterprise Functions.

The Risk Management Associate will be part of the TRIG team, which is dedicated to proactive risk identification through thorough transactional analysis to effectively mitigate identified risks. This group also conducts supplemental due diligence by researching Enterprise-wide customers that present escalated risk levels. The team performs product, industry, and emerging risk assessments to evaluate the line of business' exposure to various risks, including trends, customer types, and other relevant factors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify customers that exhibit heightened risk to the line of business through comprehensive product, industry, and emerging risk assessments.
  • Conduct in-depth research on high-risk customers and sectors.
  • Evaluate exposure to emerging risks.
  • Enhance customer due diligence and risk baselines based on transactional behavior.
  • Perform various forms of transactional due diligence reviews to support risk management efforts.
  • Analyze transactional activity to distinguish between benign actions and those requiring further investigation.
  • With managerial support, execute transactional reviews of the customer base at the product, industry, and typology risk levels.
  • Assess money laundering and terrorist financing (ML/TF) risks and operational risks identified during reviews to determine necessary escalation levels and recommendations, in consultation with management.
  • Communicate findings effectively and provide guidance to management and Wells Fargo business units.
  • Engage in moderately complex project initiatives.
  • Offer incremental improvements to existing ML/TF typologies based on observations from daily operations.
Required Qualifications:
  • At least 6 months of experience in risk management, business controls, quality assurance, business operations, compliance, or process management, or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military experience, or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in compliance or operational risk management, including audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or managing a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk.
  • Proven ability to assess risks and communicate relevant information to the business in a clear, timely, and appropriate manner.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including managing large sets of transactional data (e.g., Pivot tables).
  • Skills in creating and delivering presentations using PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with BSA/AML programs, including KYC, CDD, EDD, CIP, and other related risk and regulatory disciplines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet objectives, and work effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Capacity to collaborate with teams across different locations and matrixed relationships.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical abilities with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of Wells Fargo systems and products.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
