Job Overview

The role of the Electrical Engineer involves offering technical expertise for production troubleshooting and ensuring the effective design and development of electrical systems. This position is critical in advancing the capabilities of electric vehicles.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute firmware updates on buses and coaches, alongside hands-on electrical repair and assembly tasks.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of electronics and their integration with software and firmware.
  • Create and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics utilizing AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify solutions and appropriate products.
  • Engage with team members to synchronize various projects effectively.
  • Contribute to the enhancement and innovation of electric vehicle technologies.
  • Formulate specifications and testing criteria for product designs.
  • Assess design reliability, serviceability, and manufacturability.
  • Conduct engineering tasks at customer locations or remotely as necessary.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BOM) and supervise the creation of design drawings.
  • Travel to customer sites for troubleshooting when required.
  • Provide assistance to departments such as Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Customer Service.
  • Suggest enhancements to engineering policies and establish new procedures as necessary.
  • Promote continuous improvement in electrical best practices by evaluating industry tools and collaborating with the Electrical and Software Engineering teams.
  • Maintain awareness of how assigned tasks influence schedule, scope, budget, and quality throughout all development phases.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • May undertake other tasks as required.

Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong grasp of electronics and their relationship with software and firmware.
  • Proven success in learning and integrating established technologies into new products to address complex challenges.
  • Familiarity with the functions and architecture of electronic components in electric vehicles, including high voltage batteries, Battery Management Systems (BMS), inverters, chargers, and converters.
  • Experience with sensing and control systems.
  • Background in communication protocols such as CAN bus, I2C/USB, and wireless technologies.
  • Proficient in LabVIEW software and capable of developing monitoring applications for electric vehicle components.
  • Experience with engineering design tools such as Altium, AutoCAD, and NX Unigraphics.
  • Hands-on experience in electrical repair or assembly.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical product safety standards.
  • Proficient in using multimeters and oscilloscopes.

Education:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
