Position Overview:
The Oncology Infusion Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring a supportive and efficient environment for patients undergoing treatment. This position requires a compassionate and skilled professional dedicated to delivering high-quality care to oncology patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administration of Treatments: Deliver blood products, medications, chemotherapy, biotherapy, analgesics, and hematopoietic growth factors in accordance with established guidelines.
- Patient Assessment: Evaluate patient adherence to treatment plans and assess their clinical status during visits.
- Clinical Procedures: Perform both basic and advanced procedures, including venipuncture and management of IV therapies.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of patient interventions and outcomes in the medical documentation system.
- Care Coordination: Collaborate with the cancer care team to facilitate transitions to home care, palliative care, or hospice services.
- Patient Communication: Manage incoming patient inquiries, triage concerns, and develop appropriate nursing care plans.
- Comfort Optimization: Enhance the physical and emotional well-being of patients and their families by providing necessary resources and referrals.
- Continuity of Care: Ensure seamless communication between outpatient and inpatient departments regarding patient admissions and discharges.
- Patient Education: Provide comprehensive education to patients and families regarding treatment protocols and potential side effects.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with a valid license.
- Preferred certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or ONS provider card.
- BLS certification required.
- Minimum of two years of experience in oncology or infusion nursing is preferred.
Skills and Attributes:
Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively under pressure, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality. A strong foundation in clinical management and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams are essential for this role.
