We are seeking a highly skilled Babbitt Technician to join our team at Dover Corporation. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for properly cleaning, tinning, and babbitt ferrous and non-ferrous materials in a wide variety of sizes of bearings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work from detailed drawings, process sheets, and verbal instructions to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cleaning and acid washing of components, dipping or coating components in molten tin, and adding babbitt to components using spinning or static pouring methods.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S standards.
  • Perform work assignments in a safe and efficient manner, wearing protective eyewear and insulated gloves as required.
  • Fill out in-process inspection reports and notify supervisors of any discrepancies or damaged material.
  • Disassemble bearings, inspect for defects, and reassemble as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5-10 years of related experience in mechanical assembly and precision component manufacturing.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to perform a job.
  • Ability to set up manual machines and perform basic maintenance tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience machining finish-grade components to tight tolerances.
  • TIG and/or welding experience.
  • Experience with ultrasonic testing and dye penetrate testing.
  • General knowledge of bearing design and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
Working Conditions

The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet and/or humid conditions, and moderate noise levels. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
