We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Assistant to join our team at Fort Dodge Community School District. As a Special Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers and students in a variety of instructional settings.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers with educational activities, including lesson planning and implementation.
- Support students with special needs, providing individualized attention and accommodations as needed.
- Maintain a safe and orderly educational environment, ensuring the well-being and safety of all students.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other activities, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Assist with data collection and record-keeping, including charting student progress and behavior.
- Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Prepare and organize instructional materials and equipment, ensuring that all necessary resources are available for teachers and students.
- Assist with meal and snack preparation, as needed, and maintain a clean and safe environment in the classroom and school.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to engage with students of varying ages and abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, students, and other staff members.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Physical stamina to perform tasks that require standing, walking, and lifting, as needed.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced educational environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, with a focus on providing high-quality support to students and teachers.
