Job Summary

The Surgical Assistant will be responsible for assisting in operations, under the supervision of surgeons. This role requires a high level of skill and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during operations, maintaining aseptic technique and ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment
  • Coordinate patient positioning and preparation for surgery
  • Monitor patient vital signs and respond to any changes or complications
  • Prepare and apply sterile wound dressings
  • Discuss surgical procedures with surgeons, including operative consent and patient-advanced directives
Requirements
  • Minimum two (2) years' experience working in an ambulatory or surgical setting
  • Possess an ability to function in a high-stress, physically demanding setting
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.)
  • Exemplary customer service experience, including client relationships and job knowledge
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise manual dexterity, control precision, and arm-hand steadiness accurately
  • Ability to be empathetic with patients and maintain confidentiality
